The optimum refining conditions comprises wet degumming using 5.0 wt/wt% of distilled water at 90 掳C for 20 min, acid degumming using 0.5 wt% of phosphoric acid at 90 掳C for 10 min, bleaching using 1.0 wt% of natural bleaching earth at 105 掳C for 20 min, and deacidification at 160 掳C and 0.001 mmHg.

Physical refining resulted in higher losses in 伪-, 尾-, 纬- and 未-tocopherols in palm oil (Table 2). While total tocopherol content of palm oil showed significant differences during each refining stages, a significant change was also determined in degummed-bleached palm oil for 伪- and 纬-tocopherol contents (p < 0.01).
