Some 0.8 million tons of sesame oil is produced in Asia, while Africa produces 28% of world total sesame oil. Europe produces a small amount of sesame seeds and converts them into oil, showing that there is higher demand for oil than for the seeds themselves, whereas the opposite applies in both Asia and Africa ( Hahm and Kuei, 2014 ).
