INTRODUCTION. Shea nut oil is produced from shea nuts derived from the Shea tree Butyrospermum parkii. The shea tree, formerly Butryospermum paradoxum, is now called Vitellaria paradoxa. Shea-butter tree is found in areas with 400-1800 mm rainfall per year. The species is of African origin ( IPGRI, INIA, 2006 ).
